What do mouse DPI and polling rate actually mean?

DPI is how far your pointer travels for each inch you slide a mouse, and polling rate is how often the mouse reports that movement. Neither is a quality score.

A short demo lets you replay one flick of the hand and watch how DPI, sensitivity and polling rate change where the pointer lands and how smooth the trail is. Most players do well with 400 to 1600 DPI and 1000 Hz, so the guide shows what to spend on instead.
